Not like traditional mandrels with fixed sizes, expanding mandrels are flexible and adjustable. With the tapered shafts and the elastic sleeves, one mandrel with a sleeve can hold a range of sizes. Thus, you don't need a great many of the mandrels with fixed dimensions. This precision and adjustable expanding mandrel set can support inside diameters ranging from 1/2" to 2". Accusize 6987-0918 Precision Expanding Mandrels are made of high-grade tool steel, which gives the toolset relatively much longer tool life.
The precision expanding mandrels are much more economically than traditional arbors.Features:
- Made of high-grade tool steel.
- Precision ground and heat-treated for maximum concentricity and holding power.
- Center holes are ground and lapped.
- The automatic expansion feature can be utilized on any bore (standard or non-standard) within the range of the mandrel.
- Sizes up to 1" capacity are furnished with 1 sleeve: larger sizes are furnished with 2 sleeves (1 large and 1 small).
- Arbors are tapered, sleeves are flexible and size is obtained by moving sleeves along the arbor.
- A range from 1/2" thru 2" by 0.0001" can be covered by a total of 8 mandrels.
